FEEDING INSTRUCTIONS

I was raised on Pro Plan Selects Turkey and Barley Puppy food.  I am also given some raw hamburger as a treat. I try to stay away from seafood and liver, because it upsets my tummy, and could give me the runs. Leave my dish of dry food out at all times because I like to snack on it, along with some water, either from the kettle, bottled, or filtered.  If you want to give me a treat you can give me some half-and-half cream, instead of milk because my stomach can't handle it.  If you decide to change my food, do it gradually over a couple of weeks that way my system can adjust to the change.

HAZARDS TO BE WARY OF

When not watching me, please confine me to small quarters so that I will not have a chance to get into trouble, lost a chance to hide, or to get frightened. PLEASE WAIT UNTILL MY SECOND VACCINATION BEFORE TAING ME FOR WALKS OR MEETING STRANGE DOGS. Please don't allow me on your shoulder. Keep clothes dryers, and refrigerator doors closed at all times, if you find it open check to make sure I am not asleep or playing inside. Plastic bags can smother me; doors can kill or maim me, so be careful. ALSO PLEASE WATCH YOUR STEP SO YOU WON’T FALL OR STEP ON ME. Another thing to watch out for is plants and toads because they are amusing and are fun to play with, but they can be poisonous and make me sick.

GROOMING

Clip my nails every two weeks using regular nail clippers while I’m little, and dog nail clippers or a dermal when I’m bigger. Cut them at the point where they start to bend down, but avoid cutting into the quick. If my eyes need care, a clean, soft, damp cloth will work to wipe my eyes. If you see me squinting with one or both of my eyes, a couple drops of regular Visine or clear eyes will help to flush out any irritants, and make me feel more comfortable. Deshedding should be done on a weekly basis when I’m shedding, (if not twice a week.)  You may bath me if you feel I need it, at the least once a month. Followed by a good rub down with a towel, I will be very happy. The best thing you can use for flea prevention is REVOLUTION, a drop on my back once a month is all I need. Revolution also protects against most worms, ticks, and mites (mange).

WHEN YOU BRING ME HOME

Put me in a small room (for example the bathroom, remember to keep the lid down) with my litter box, and put me in it, let me wander around the room. I have scent pads in my feet, so it is important that when I am used to the room to let me explore out of it, so I can follow my scent and find my way back to the litter box. Remember don't carry me some where and expect me to know where my litter box is. If you keep this in mind I shouldn't have a problem. Another thing is to invest in chew toys and then teach me to use then, I go through different teething phases and like to chew. If I’m chewing or playing with your hands and I get too ruff use a loud “OUCH.”  If at any time you feel the need to discipline me, use a loud clap and say “NO”, or use a spray bottle, relate the reaction to the thing I did wrong, and try to remember that unless you punish me right away I won't understand what I did wrong. When I do something right, please praise me so that I can learn to be the best dog I can be. I also like treats (greenies, dentastix, beggin strips, and raw hide,) always under supervision, and my favorite toys are ones with squeekies, keep in mind to watch my toys for holes, cause I love to pull out the filling and eat it and its not good for me.  Please keep in mind that I love ripping up and eating paper products, especially Kleenex and paper towels.

MOST OF ALL REMEMBER THAT ALL I ASK FOR IS FOOD, ATTENTION, A CLEAN LITTER BOX AND LOVE
